1. Don’t share personal information to anonymous users! This is a big deal! Full names, birthdays, addresses, telephone numbers should not be given out freely. Website’s with “hptts” are secure sites that are equipped in keeping private information, in fact, private. So make sure that the sites that you are inputting personal information have that at the beginning of their site address!
2. Make your passwords secure! The reason why many people get hacked is because they do not make their passwords secure enough. Don’t fall into this genre of people. Right off the bat, you should make your passwords strong and impenetrable. There is a link below to help you generate a strong password that virtually no one will be able to hack.
3. Understand that anything you post on the Internet is permanent. What you post can be reposted without your consent. As you know, things posted on the Internet travels very quickly this is evident through the social media sites like Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram. Be very careful when choosing the photos and videos that you share on these sites. Just ask the question: “would I want my grandma seeing this photo of me?” If the answer is “No” then you probably don’t want to post it.
4. Be aware of what links you are clicking and what files you are downloading. The easiest way to catch a virus on your computer is not know which sites you are visiting. These virus’ can erase your hard drives, steal information, and slow your computer down. Ultimately, virus’ and malware are just a pain in the butt. It’s a hassle to remove the bad software from your computer so, to prevent such files from being downloaded, be aware of what your mouse is clicking on!
